2018 in Review + 2019 Goals for the New Year

If you’ve read my blog before, you’re probably wondering what I’ve been up to since my last blog post back in March. I’m using this post to say I’m back, and to give you a life update on what I’ve been up to.

I abruptly quit blogging when life got very hectic for me back in March. I was juggling full-time college classes, a part-time job on the weekends, my last semester as photo editor for The Franklin, various campus jobs, my senior project and making sure I was prepared for graduation in May. Since blogging was something I did for fun, I figured taking a break to keep my sanity was my best option.

Since then, so much has happened:

  • I graduated with a degree in public relations and multimedia journalism.

  • I was a bridesmaid in not one, but two weddings.

  • My family went on a mini vacation to Tennessee to see the synchronous fireflies.

  • I went to the last “cross country” Vans Warped Tour.

  • I saw my favorite band, All Time Low, from side stage.

  • My family got a bearded dragon, and rescued a baby kitten (and my parents finally decided to let us keep him)!

  • Made many good memories with my boyfriend, a lot of which included Pokémon (nerd alert).

  • I switched departments and got a raise at my current job.

There were a lot of great things that happened in 2018, but there were also a lot of not so great things that happened. Those of which, kept making me put off my blog for longer and longer. I let fear and anxiety get in the way of letting me do the things I normally enjoy doing.

That is why, I’m making some changes in 2019. I’m going to:

  • Stop letting fear get in the way of letting me blog, post to Instagram, try new things, etc.

  • Stop letting my phone control my life (limit my usage).

  • Read at least one book per month for fun (and to help with the phone problem).

  • Prioritize my health (less junk food, better sleep schedule, drink more water).

  • Make relationships more of a priority (make more plans and memories).

  • Find a job within the public relations field.

I can feel a lot of major changes happening in 2019, and I can’t wait to see what this year has in store.

What changes are you making in 2019?

Happy New Year
