Monthly Favorites: August 2020

A new month means it’s time for another round of my Monthly Favorites. Today, I am sharing all of my favorite things from the month of August. This month was heavy on the entertainment category, but I’m not complaining about it! August had a lot of awesome new releases and I’m excited to share my favorites with you.

Jolly Rancher Gummies Sours

I just discovered these Jolly Rancher Gummies Sours and they are my new favorite thing! They taste just like the actual flavors with a tiny hint of sour, but they are so good! I didn’t know lemon jolly ranchers were a thing, though. You learn something new every day!

Entertainment

Chemical Hearts

I saw previews for this movie and thought it looked familiar. Turns out, this movie is based on a book that I’ve had on my reading list for awhile called Our Chemical Hearts. I knew it would be awhile before I got the chance to read the book, so I went ahead and watched the movie first. It was a pretty good movie, and it reminded me a lot of John Green’s storylines (which is probably why I enjoyed it). Chemical Hearts is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.

Work It

This movie popped up as a new release on Netflix, so I decided to give it a go. I honestly thought it was going to be a super cheesy dance movie, but it was a lot better than I thought! I usually either love or hate dance movies, but this one I really enjoyed. Now, I lowkey want to take up dancing!

Dead To Me

My mom recommended this show to me when I needed something new to watch (thanks, mom). I had heard good things about it, so I decided to give it a try. Next thing I knew, I had blown through 2 seasons in a couple days! This is now one of my favorite shows of all time. It’s one of those shows where you know the major thing that happens from the beginning and you have to watch and see how the rest plays out. I love the characters and waiting to see what they are going to do next. If you have Netflix, I highly recommend you check this one out.

State Champs Unplugged EP

If you know me, you know I’m a big fan of the band State Champs. So it is pretty much a given that I would include their newest release on my Monthly Favorites list. Unplugged is their newest acoustic EP. The EP contains four new songs and two acoustic versions of songs from their album, Living Proof. My favorite song off the EP is “A Thousand Hearts.” I will say that I really enjoy all of the new songs, but the acoustic versions of “Criminal” and “Dead and Gone” aren’t my favorite acoustic versions they’ve done. Overall, it’s still a nice little EP that couldn’t have come at a better time with everything going on in the world right now.
