Monthly Favorites: January 2019

I can’t believe we’re already almost through the first month of the year. It seems like Christmas was just yesterday. Today on the blog, I’m bringing back my monthly favorites posts. I’m one of those people who loves reading other people’s recommendations and trying out new things.

This month, I’m sharing my favorite things from the show I’ve been binging, to the new products I’ve been using and music I’ve been listening to.

Here are all the things I’ve been loving lately:

Entertainment

In the entertainment category, I must talk about the Netflix show I just finished. I’m sure you’ve heard people talking about the show, You. It’s about a bookstore manager who becomes obsessed with a woman who shows up at the bookstore one day. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but this guy is super creepy. Once you’ve watched one episode, you’ll be sucked in wanting to find out what happens next. If you love a good thriller, then you’ll love this ten episode series.

I received a copy of Super Mario Party for the Nintendo Switch for Christmas, and that’s all I’ve been playing lately. I grew up playing Mario Party games on the GameCube, so this a nice nostalgic gift I received. It’s nice to have a game that my family can get together and play.

Makeup & Hair Care

If you know me, you’d know that I don’t generally wear a lot of makeup, but I do love a good mascara. My current favorite mascara is one that you can actually buy at Walmart. L’Oreal’s Lash Paradise Mascara is less than $10 at Walmart and is great for both length and volume. People compare it to the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, but Lash Paradise is a much cheaper option.

I used to not use any extra haircare products, but I realized I’m probably damaging my hair from all the heat. I’ve heard people express how important it is to use a heat protectant, but for the longest time I was just too lazy to use one. At the end of last year, I got really into taking better care of my hair. I received Not Your Mother’s All Eyes on Me 10-in-1 Hair Perfector for free to try out and review from Influenster. I gave it a shot, and to my surprise it made a big difference to my hair. It not only smells good, but it also helped control the frizz and made my hair super soft! It also serves as a heat protectant and more all in one.

I also recently picked up Not Your Mother’s Beat the Heat Thermal Shield Spray because my roommate used to have some and I remember it also smelled amazing! I looked for this heat protectant everywhere and couldn’t find it. That’s the biggest reason why it took me so long to start using one! I finally found it at Ulta with a buy one get one free deal so I stocked up. I’m so glad I discovered these products and started taking much better care of my hair.

Music

This month has been a good month for me in the music category. The Maine released a new song called “Numb Without You.” So good. Alex Gaskarth, the singer for All Time Low (my favorite band) started a side project with Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, called Simple Creatures. They released their first song called “Drug” and I’ve been playing it on repeat ever since. I’ve created a Spotify playlist so you can check out both songs, and some others I’ve been jamming to this month. You can thank me later.
